Limited Mobility

Limited MobilityFairway Physiotherapy is a user-friendly facility allowing full access to patient whom use standard and bariatric wheelchairs, mobility aids and those who require a little extra assistance. The Golf Links Community Clinic is a main floor accessible building allowing easy access.
Having limited mobility does not mean that exercise is unwise or that you are unable to participate. It simply means that care must be taken during your evaluation for exercise and the correct form prescribed for you. The only way for this to happen is with careful consultation between you, your family doctor and your physiotherapist. For most health conditions, forms of exercise are essential in maintaining and improving your health, level of function and in achieving your personal goals. Research supports increasing ones’ mobility when living with a variety of health conditions. These include, but are not limited to:

Diabetes
Joint Replacements
Osteoarthritis
Rheumatoid Arthritis / Fibromyalgia
Stroke with muscle weakness and/or paralysis
Parkinson’s Disease
Multiple Sclerosis
Fractures
Neuropathies
Chronic low back pain & sciatica
Heart disease
Sport-related Knee injuries (ACL, meniscus and MCL)

Exercise is also capable of preventing a number of serious conditions. These include, but are not limited to:

Heart Disease
Stroke
Osteoarthritis (and in turn joint replacements)
High Blood Pressure
High Cholesterol
Blood Clots (Deep Venous Thrombosus)

We are pleased to discuss your mobility concerns with you prior to your assessment, in order to answer your questions and to help determine if physiotherapy assessment may be appropriate, or if consultation should be sought with another health care provider. Please give us a call, we can help.
